By creating an account or using SimpleBudgetTracker ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is operated by Dave Burniston, Ontario, Canada (daveburniston.com).
SimpleBudgetTracker provides a web-based family budgeting application consisting of a desktop hub and a mobile phone app. The Service allows users to track household spending, categorise transactions, and generate reports.
Your financial data is stored in your browser on your own device. We do not store your financial data on our servers.
New accounts receive a 30-day free trial with full access to all non-AI features. No credit card is required for the trial.
At the end of the trial period, your account enters a 30-day read-only grace period. During this time you can view your data and export it, but cannot add new transactions. After the grace period, you must subscribe to continue using the Service.
Your data is always exportable regardless of subscription status.
Base Plan: $19.95 CAD per year, billed annually. Covers one family account with unlimited family members.
AI Add-on: $6.00 CAD per month, billed monthly. Provides up to 100 AI receipt scans per month.
Payments are processed by LemonSqueezy. By subscribing, you agree to LemonSqueezy's terms of service.
Subscriptions renew automatically. You may cancel at any time from your account settings or by contacting us.
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first payment. If you are not satisfied within 30 days of your first paid subscription, contact us at hello@simplebudgettracker.com for a full refund.
After 30 days, payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law in Ontario, Canada.
Refunds are not available for the AI add-on month in which scans have been used.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation:
We do not delete your account data upon cancellation. You can resubscribe at any time to regain full access.
You are responsible for:
Your financial data is stored in your browser. We strongly recommend downloading regular backups using the built-in backup feature. We are not responsible for data loss resulting from browser data clearing, device failure, or failure to maintain backups.
The Service includes automatic backup tools. Use of these tools is your responsibility.
AI receipt scanning is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Receipt images are processed transiently and immediately discarded. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-extracted data — always review results before saving.
Monthly scan limits (100 scans/month) are enforced. Unused scans do not roll over. If the limit is reached, the app falls back to manual entry.
You agree not to:
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance with or without notice. Planned downtime will be communicated where possible.
Because your financial data is stored locally on your device, most features remain accessible even during server downtime.
To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, or indirect damages arising from your use of the Service.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or meet your specific requirements. SimpleBudgetTracker is a budgeting tool — it does not provide financial advice.
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
